This is one of our highlight projects. As we all know that it’s very difficult to recruit qualified people with special skills to work at a remote area, especially when the location has no running water, no basic sanitation means and sometimes no electricity. That is a major issue for us and for all local project managers. We believe the best and efficient way to resolve this problem is to provide scholarships to the local academic potential students who can obtain the required skills and come back to serve their community.
We began this scholarship program a year post C2SOTC inception. It took a few years to get this program off the ground but its success went beyond our expectation. It’s a win & win project, because not only that this program helps poor and accelerated students to acquire the needed professional skills to escape their cycle of poverty but it also helps us to recruit talented and capable individuals to assist & guide the local villagers to improve their living conditions.
Over the last 5 years, C2SOTC has given more than 12 scholarships to students in Pleiku to attend Colleges of Medicine and Education. Many of these graduated physician assistants, nurses and teachers have returned to their local villages and have served their community effectively. At least 4 scholarship recipients are currently practicing & managing 4 medical posts in different villages and a few graduated teachers are working in our childcare centers.
This year 2020, C2SOTC funds 5 scholarships total of $5,500USD.
